At Apex Dental, we reserve two slots every day specifically for emergency dental care. This allows us to accommodate walk-in visits during critical moments when possible. These openings are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please call us now to check availability and let us know if you are on your way.
If you are experiencing a serious dental issue and require immediate care, please visit your nearest emergency room.
Some of the most common dental emergencies include:
-
Lost Crowns
While dental crowns are built to last, certain situations can cause them to fall off your tooth prematurely. If this happens to you, don't panic. Call our office right away for an appointment.
In the meantime, find your crown, rinse it gently with warm water, and place it in a container to bring to your appointment. We may be able to reattach your existing crown and save you money and the time it would take to have a new one made.
If possible, you should immediately seek dental care when you've lost a crown. If your uncovered tooth is causing you pain, you can use dental cement or wax, usually available at a pharmacy, to cover your tooth until your appointment.
-
Lost Fillings
If you misplace a filling, you should contact our dental clinic right away. Don't delay getting a replacement filling, as bacteria can enter the exposed hole, leading to additional decay.
Keep the exposed area clean and avoid chewing on the affected side until the filling is replaced.
-
Chipped or Broken Teeth
Have you broken or chipped one of your teeth? If possible, locate the missing piece, put it in a clean container, and bring it with you to your appointment. Your dentist may be able to reattach it in some cases. Whether the piece is found or not, call our office right away to have it repaired.
-
Knocked-Out Teeth
If possible, locate the knocked-out tooth, taking care to pick it up by the crown and not the root. Place it in a container filled with milk and bring it to your appointment. You can apply a cold compress to the affected area is you are experiencing any pain.
Call our office as soon as possible. The sooner you can be treated after a tooth has been knocked out, the better the chance your dentist will have of saving it.
If your tooth cannot be saved, we will discuss the available treatment options and our recommendations to maintain your oral health.
-
Swelling, Pain or Discomfort
Are you experiencing moderate to severe swelling, pain, or discomfort in your mouth or jaw?
Call us as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can take the following steps to relieve the pain that you may be experiencing:
- Apply a cold compress to the area where you are feeling pain or discomfort.
- Take an over-the-counter pain medication.
- If the pain is coming from inside your mouth, use salt water to flush the area that is in pain.
Please note that if the swelling impacts your ability to breathe, you should go to your nearest emergency room immediately.
